“We have tried opera, ballet, musical theater, etc. This may be the strongest program from every perspective that we have ever sponsored.”

Expressing the Human Condition

“When the Blue Shoe Project came to town our students got an engaging and interactive introduction to one of the most powerful musical expressions of the human condition - The Blues.  The presentation tied social history and musical traditions together in a way that every child could connect to in some way.  Appropriate vocabulary was presented and reinforced through participatory activities.  The music was authentic and expertly performed.  Our students really loved this program and they learned a great deal in a fun, musical environment.  We will have the Blue Shoe Project out in our schools again and again.  I recommend this program highly!”

Kathy Kuddes, Director of Fine Arts - Plano ISD

“I am still vibrating from the experience of The Legends program.  I will remember forever the expressive glow on my students’ faces when they met the legendary Blues artist whom they had studied in Humanities class, David “Honeyboy” Edwards.  His personal stories resonated with these young minds just as profoundly as the richness of his music.  Thank you, Blue Shoe, for making this national treasure available for today’s students of music and the arts.”

Dr. David Tripp - Humanities Instructor Martin High School / Adjunct Professor Texas Wesleyan University

“I would honestly change nothing. The program was exceptional. I would never have expected my students to get into the blues the way they did.”

Jan – Teacher / Irving ISD

“I think it’s a great cultural experience for students and teachers to learn about the blues, and I know that it’s a lot of fun too.”

David - Plano ISD

“The kids really did enjoy the program as well as the teachers!”

Shonda Winkler - Teacher / Plano ISD

The presentation was rich with the history of blues.  There was a lot of interaction with the students and the music was excellent! Even the adults in the audience felt both enlightened and entertained. I highly recommend this exciting event as enrichment for the mind and the soul.
